Mid-Winter Break Fun

During Mid-winter break Uturn Jr. High was able to have some fun together. On the Tuesday of the break we went bowling at Kenmore Lanes. It was a fun afternoon of knocking down pins, eating junk food and trying to stay out of the gutters.

On Thursday there were 11 of us that took the bus to downtown Seattle. We met at the local park and ride, hopped on the bus and rode right into the heart of the Emerald City. We had lunch at Westlake Center's Food Court, wandered around shopping, visited Pike Place Market, bought coffee at the first ever Starbucks and just enjoyed the beautiful weather. It was a lot of fun for those that went and we didn't lose anybody. :)

Check out the Uturn Calendar on the blog for other fun opportunities like Broomball, Summer Camp, movie nights, hang out nights and much much more.

A Wider Path

I was recently reading out of 2 Samuel 22 when I came across a verse that really stood out.

2 Samuel 22: 37
"You have made a wide path for my feet
to keep them from slipping."

In the verses preceding this David is praising God for how he has continually strengthened and supported him during moments of trial and stress. As I read this and continued to think about it I realized that God really does want us to succeed in living righteously. He's not a big, mean God sitting up on his throne expecting perfection and criticizing our every fault. Instead He's right beside us and even enabling us to follow through with his expectations. Not wanting our feet to slip off the path of walking in His will, His purposes, and His design for our lives.

Granted Jesus said we live on a narrow road that is difficult and tough to navigate. (Matt 7:13-14) Meaning that living a life sold out for God and his plan isn't always a cake walk. Making choices to live a righteous and holy lifestyle aren't always the easy and popular decisions. But at the same time he's giving us the necessities to walk that path. It can be said best by a quote that I heard a long time ago, "that whatever God is asking you to do, he will enable you to achieve."
